Overview

Lower School students are intellectually curious, enthusiastic and energetic learners. As they progress from nursery through fourth grade, Lower School students learn to engage in big ideas, to form opinions and support them, and to be active participants in their own educations – all skills they will rely on in Middle and Upper Schools.

The curriculum for each grade includes language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, art, computer instruction, Spanish, library skills, music, and physical education. It is dynamic, thematic and often hands-on.

In Lower School, children have much to learn socially. Tolerance and respect for differences in the classroom community and on the playground are the essence of Friends' Central students’ learning to be good friends and contribute to a group without sacrificing their own success.
