Friends’ Central's Middle School plays a critical role in transforming eager, enthusiastic and motivated elementary school students into self-aware, critically thinking, and empathetic eighth graders. This path includes a curriculum with rich academic, artistic, and athletic opportunities as well as required weekly community service. The Middle School emphasizes the development of the strong study skills essential to success in the Upper School and beyond.
Teachers serve as coaches, role models, advisors, and mentors. Committed to this dynamic age group, Middle School teachers are adept at responding to the changes that children experience during adolescence. They support Middle School students as they strive to be more independent, while recognizing the potential pitfalls along the way. Organized in grade-level advisory teams, teachers meet each week to discuss student progress and academic programs. Daily meetings with advisees allow teachers to monitor social and academic progress.
