 | | Visual arts students are offered a variety of courses that provide both conceptual and concrete opportunities for skill development. Whether in the full-year major courses of ceramics, woodworking, and photography, or the two levels of studio art (drawing & painting), students learn foundation skills through imaginative exercises culminating in finished work. The Student Art Gallery in Shallcross Hall offers a continuous, regularly changing exhibition of student work. Minor, trimester-long courses in drawing and art appreciation are also required for 9th and 10th grade students. |
|  | The Wonderful Service-thru-Art Jonny Scene-n-Heard Word Roots Mural Project 5/18/2012 This year the students in art teacher Caroline Maw-Deis’ Service-thu-Art program put their creative energy and artistic skill to good use to transform the Middle School basement walls. These Middle School students, and a few parents, faculty, and alumnae volunteers, worked to create a wonderfully complex and colorful mural.

 FCS Takes Home Prestigious Theatre Awards 5/11/2012 On May 6, several members of our community took to the red carpet at Upper Darby High School for the 2012 Cappies Awards Gala. This award ceremony is our region’s rendition of the Tony Awards, and is geared towards celebrating high school thespians all across our area.

 New old music from a ‘vocal string quartet’ 5/4/2012 Friends' Central School is honored to host the classical male vocal quartet New York Polyphony on Saturday, May 5. The Philadelphia Inquirer profiled this "vocal string quartet," as one member calls the group, in an article this week.

 Student-Faculty Concert Brings Down the House 5/4/2012 Last month at an Upper School assembly, students, faculty, and staff were treated to a wonderful concert that showcased the musical talents of students and faculty. Orchestrated by current faculty member Galen Guindon ’06, with the help of Student Council, the concert had the crowd on their feet dancing and clapping for the whole show.
