Participation in physical education and athletics is required of all Upper School students. Friends' Central offers 25 sports/activities from which to choose. Students must participate in interscholastic sports for a minimum of four of their 12 trimesters, two of which must be completed before the end of the sophomore year. During the remaining trimesters, students may choose either physical education or interscholastic sports. Friends' Central competes in the Friends Schools League.

|Middle School Boys' Soccer Attends Union Game|
FCS' Middle School Boys' A and B soccer teams visited the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, October 11th. The team enjoyed the evening, but were not treated to a Union victory. The Philadelphia Union was defeated by the Columbus Crew 3-2. The Phoenix coaches attending the game were "A" team coaches Keith Bradburd and Gleb Gershman and "B" team coach Bob Folwell.

Friends' Central competed in the Friends Schools League Cross Country Championship at Westtown School on Tuesday, October 14th. FCS' girls' team produced the individual winner and came within four points of unseating thirteen time League Champion Germantown Friends.
|FCS' Gabreille Wilkinson '18 Places Second at Briarwood Invitational|
Friends' Central's freshman Gabrielle Wilkinson was highlighted in a press release by Penn TrackXC.com after her strong showing at the Briarwood Invitational cross country meet run on Saturday, September 13th at Belmont Plateau. Gabrielle came in second place in this very competitive race featuring some of the strongest runners in the southeastern part of Pennsylvania.

Congrats to the "Annas boys"!
Broomall-Newtown capitalized on 11 walks, seven errors, three wild pitches and one hit batter to win the Babe Ruth 15s World Series title with a 12-3 win over Lumber River, NC Thursday night at Story Field in Longview, Wash. After being down 3-1 in the second inning, Broomall-Newtown came roaring back to take the championship.
|FCS Shines Bright at AAU Junior Olympics in Track|
Friends' Central was well represented at the AAU Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa. The meet was held from July 27th to August 1st. Two national records were broken by FCS student athletes. Gabby Wilkinson '18, representing Mt. Airy Track Club, broke the national record in the 1500m which had stood since 2009. Avery Lewis '24, representing Infinity Track Club, broke the national long jump record. Infinity Track Club is coached by Brandon Shell, FCS' Varsity Girls' indoor and Outdoor Track Coach.
