Participation in physical education and athletics is required of all Upper School students. Friends' Central offers 25 sports/activities from which to choose. Students must participate in interscholastic sports for a minimum of four of their 12 trimesters, two of which must be completed before the end of the sophomore year. During the remaining trimesters, students may choose either physical education or interscholastic sports. Friends' Central competes in the Friends Schools League.
|Two From FCS Headed to Babe Ruth World Series|
Rising sophomore Christopher Annas'17 and his father Associate Athletic Director, Phillip Annas are headed to the big leagues!
They are members of the Broomall-Newtown Babe Ruth 15s. Chris starts at third base. He also rotates through left field and shortstop depending on the pitching rotation. Chris has also logged some innings on the mound. Phillip is an Assistant Coach with the Broomall-Newtown Babe Ruth15s.
|FCS Shines Bright at AAU Junior Olympics in Track|
Friends' Central was well represented at the AAU Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa. The meet was held from July 27th to August 1st. Two national records were broken by FCS student athletes. Gabby Wilkinson '18, representing Mt. Airy Track Club, broke the national record in the 1500m which had stood since 2009. Avery Lewis '24, representing Infinity Track Club, broke the national long jump record. Infinity Track Club is coached by Brandon Shell, FCS' Varsity Girls' indoor and Outdoor Track Coach.
|Dahle Named 1st Team All American, US Girls' Lacrosse|
For the second year in a row, Emma Dahle '14 has been named US Girls' Lacrosse First Team All American. She is the first Friends' Central athlete to be named twice as a First Team All American. The Philadelphia Inquirer (6/12/14) also recognized Emma as a member of the All-Southeastern Pennsylvania Girls' Lacrosse Team.
