• Taking Action - FCS Students Tackle Sequester Project

  When the Republicans and Democrats were unable to agree on federal budget deficit reduction in the beginning of 2013, a series of automatic budget cuts were put into place called the sequester. Many Americans don't know that, RIGHT NOW, non-profits that provide much-needed support to those in need in our community will either be forced to close their doors or make major cutbacks.

  U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan today announced the selection of Friends’ Central senior Beah Jacobson as a 2013 U.S. Presidential Scholar.

• Alum Benj Pasek '03 Receives 3 Tony Award Nominations!
  The month of April ended with a bang for Friends' Central alumnus Benj Pasek ’03 and his writing partner Justin Paul. On April 30, the duo was nominated for 3 Tony Awards: Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Original Score, for their work on A Christmas Story, The Musical.

• Middle Schoolers Ace National History Bee!
  Middle School students David Arnold (gr. 8), Ezra Kruger (gr. 7), Noble Brigham (gr. 5), and Gordon Wilcox (gr. 5) qualified for the semifinals of the 2013 National History Bee, which took place on April 20. Congrats to David Arnold,  Middle School regional champion, and Noble Brigham, regional qualifier in the Elementary division.

• Senior Named Semifinalist in U.S. Scholars Program
  FCS Senior Beah Jacobson has been named one of 550 semifinalists in the 2013 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. Semifinalists were selected from nearly 4,000 candidates on the basis of superior achievements, leadership qualities, personal character, and involvement community and school activities.
