Craig N. Sellers

Head of School

Craig Sellers began his career in education in 1994 at Friends Seminary in New York where he served as its Director of Development and a member of the faculty. He went on to serve as Head of School at United Friends School, a Quaker school for students in nursery through grade 8, from 2000-2007 before becoming Head of The Derryfield School, a 380-student day school for grades 6 through 12 in Manchester, N.H.,in 2007. 

A member of the Society of Friends, Sellers also serves on the Friends Council on Education. Craig is a graduate of The Lawrenceville School and holds a B.A. in English and government from Franklin & Marshall College. He also received a J.D. from the New York Law School and an M.A. in educational administration from the Klingenstein Center at Teachers College, Columbia University. He and his wife, Cary, have two children, one a 2015 FCS graduate and the other a current student at Friends' Central. Follow Craig on Twitter @fcscns.

Mariama Richards

Assistant Head of School for Academic Program

Mariama joined Friends' Central as our new Assistant Head of School for Academic Program in July 2016. Before coming to the Friends' Central community, Mariama served as the Director of Progressive and Multicultural Education for three years at Ethical Culture Fieldston School in New York City. She was the team leader for the school’s Progressive Teaching Institute and worked to develop curriculum while monitoring scope and sequence in Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools. She also worked to design and implement all major equity initiatives and to hire and retain a diverse faculty at ECFS.

Art Hall

Upper School Principal

Art joined Friends’ Central School as the Upper School Principal in July 2014. After earning Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and History while at UCLA, Art began his career in education at Harvard-Westlake, in Los Angeles, CA. In his twelve years at Greenhill School, in Dallas, TX, Art served as Dean of Students in their Upper School, and spent his last two years there as the Director of Equity and Inclusion, all while continuing to teach various elective courses. Art has taught computer science, economics, literature and history during his career as an educator. While in Dallas, Art earned a Master’s degree in education from Southern Methodist University. Alexa Dunnington Quinn ’98

Middle School Principal

Alexa has been the principal of Friends’ Central’s Middle School since 2012. She graduated from Friends’ Central School in 1998, before attending Oberlin College, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Art History. Alexa rejoined Friends’ Central soon after college, and spent 10 years teaching Language Arts in the Middle School. During this time she earned Master’s degrees in English from Middlebury College and School Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania. Her son, Connor, was born in May 2014. Kelly Pierre

Lower School Principal

Formerly the Director of Enrollment and Admission at the Hewitt School in New York, Kelly brings tremendous lower school experience and a true lower school orientation to her position. She is a graduate of Wesleyan University and The Bank Street School of Education, where she received a Master of Science in Elementary Education. Kelly spent the first 13 years of her career teaching 2nd-4th grades at The Town School, The Little Red Schoolhouse, and The Packer Collegiate Institute. While at Packer, Kelly served as the Coordinator of the Lower School Mentoring Program, observing new teachers, providing feedback, and planning professional development.
