FCS Alumni/ae Community App Details and FAQs 

Features include:

  • Alumni/ae directory searchable by name, class year, college, industry, or company.
  • “Nearby” map that shows other alums in your area.
  • Integration with LinkedIn, Facebook, and other social media platforms.

  

The alumni/ae app takes information shared with Friends' Central and LinkedIn, making a powerful networking tool. Only fellow FCS alumni/ae have access and can see this information. Privacy settings you’ve set within LinkedIn will apply the same on the app.

The “Nearby” map feature allows you to identify fellow alums in your neighborhood or industry, wherever you are! The app DOES NOT track where you are physically. No homing devices here. It only shows the address you’ve shared with us. If the address we have is old or incorrect, please let us know and we’ll correct it for you. Please allow 7 days for new information to refresh in the app.

Who can use the Friends' Central Community App?

The Friends' Central alumni/ae community can access this app. Information is secure and protected, and only FCS alumni/ae may access it.

Which devices support the app?

The FCS alumni/ae app is currently available for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Android devices.

How do I get the Friends' Central School Community App on my mobile device?

Search for “EverTrue” in the Apple App Store or in Google Play. Once you have downloaded the app and opened it, you will be asked to select your school, “Friends' Central School,” and prompted to log in.

How do I log in once I’ve downloaded EverTrue and selected the “Friends' Central School” community?

Please log in with your first and last name and your email address. If the email address matches what we have on file for you, you’ll receive an authentication message in your email inbox. Be sure to open the email you receive on the mobile device you used to download the app. Then click “Verify” and it will grant you access to the app.

What if I do not receive a confirmation email?

If you do not receive a confirmation email, it may mean that we do not have an email address on file for you, or we have a different one. If this is the case, please contact alumapp@friendscentral.org to verify your email address.

How do I search for people using the directory?

Type the name of the person you are seeking in the search box. If you are unsure of the spelling, you may type a few letters in the name, click “Search,” and the app will display a list of possible matches. You also have the option to search by class year.

How do I search for people nearby?

Click on the “Alumni Nearby” tab in the sidebar navigation. A map will appear with pushpins indicating people in your area (see map at left). Clicking on one of the pushpins will open that individual’s listing in the directory. You may also click the icon in the top right corner of the map to view a list of people nearby. To search within the map feature, click on the search icon on the bottom of the map.

How do I connect using my LinkedIn or email account?

The app allows you to connect and network with other people using LinkedIn. This is recommended to maximize your networking ability. You can also connect using your email. When you first log into the app, you will be asked if you would like to connect via LinkedIn or your email. Choose either one. Once you are in the app, you can view business information that FCS alumni/ae have included in their LinkedIn profiles, along with the number of connections you have in common. Anything marked as private in LinkedIn remains private. If you are not connected to that individual, you will not see his/her private information, nor will he/she be able to view yours. Don’t forget to list “Friends' Central School” in the education field in your LinkedIn profile, and join the Friends' Central School Alumni/ae LinkedIn Group!
If you decide not to immediately connect your LinkedIn account, you may do so at anytime by going to “Settings” and clicking on “Manage Accounts.” Likewise, you may disconnect at any time.

How do I update my contact information?

You can email development@friendscentral.org with your new information. You can also share updated info for alumni/ae into “Update this Profile” if you know someone’s info is out-of-date. We appreciate these leads and will contact that individual to inquire about the update.

Can I email another alum directly from the app?

Yes. From the “Directory” tab, click on the mail icon at the top someone’s profile to send that individual an email.

How do I customize my privacy settings?

Unless you indicate otherwise, your contact information will appear as it did in our online Alumni/ae Directory, including name, street, city, state, country, phone number, email address, education, and place of employment. If you have previously asked that your information remain private, it will not appear in the listing.

Once you log into the Alumni/ae App, you will see all of your contact information. If you wish, you can customize your settings so that certain information will not be viewable by others. To suppress information in your profile, go to My Profile > Suggest an Update at the bottom of the page. Type in the updates you would like to make, then hit Send. Please note that it may take up to 72 hours for changes to appear.
