Apply to Middle School

STEP 1: Begin Online Application

When you begin the online application, you will be asked to create an Admission Portal account that is password protected. You will be able to monitor the progress of your child’s application through the Admission Portal.

Friends' Central Online Application

The first steps of the application require you to provide demographic information, complete the parent questionnaire, and submit a $50 application fee. The application fee can be paid through ACH Direct as well as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover card.

Should you forget your Admission Portal username or password, please go to the Admission Portal Reset Login Page, where you will be asked to provide your email address. You will then be emailed your username and new password.

STEP 2: Visits & Interviews

Upon completion of the online application, a member of the Admission team will contact you to arrange your child’s visit day and interview, and a parent/guardian interview and tour.

STEP 3: Supporting Documents

Teacher Recommendations

Recommendations are required from your child’s English and Math teachers. Please download and sign two copies of the form, one for each subject teacher. If your child is taught by the same teacher for both subjects, please ask that teacher to complete two recommendations for your child, one providing information about your child’s verbal skills and the other about your child’s quantitative skills. The recommendations should be returned by mail by the teacher directly to Friends’ Central School Admission Office, 1101 City Avenue, Wynnewood, PA 19096 or by email to

School Recommendation

A school recommendation is also required from your child’s Principal, Assistant Principal, or Guidance Counselor. This form is unique to Friends’ Central. Please download the form, sign it, and submit it to the appropriate person. The recommendations should be returned by mail by the administrator directly to Friends’ Central School Admission Office, 1101 City Avenue, Wynnewood, PA 19096 or by email to

Student Records

Official school records from your child's school are required and should be sent directly from your child’s current school to Friends’ Central. Please download, sign, and submit the Transcript Request form to your child's current school. We require all grades from the previous school year and from at least one current marking period. In addition, the most recent set of standardized test scores must be included.

Required Forms:

Standardized testing is required. Register your child for either the Independent School Entrance Exam ( ISEE FCS code #393315) or the Secondary School Admission Test ( SSAT FCS code #3298) on a date that will guarantee that the results will be received by Friends’ Central School’s application deadline of December 15, 2017. Test results are sent to us between 3-10 days after the test session. You may also opt to have your child’s IQ assessed by a licensed psychologist who is certified to administer the WISC V test. Please note that the results of this assessment could take several weeks to arrive at Friends' Central. Please ask the psychologist to mail a copy of the results directly to Friends’ Central School Admission Office, 1101 City Avenue, Wynnewood, PA 19096.

Step 4: Financial Aid (Optional)

If you are planning to apply for financial aid, please go to School and Student Services ( SSS ) to complete your application and upload your 2016 tax returns. Because we have received an unprecedented number of applications, we strongly urge you to submit your application and supporting materials to SSS by December 14, 2018.
