Apply to Middle School & Upper School

Application Timeline
To be notified of an admission decision by January 15, all elements of the application must be completed by December 15, 2020. Applications received and completed after the December 15 deadline will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Step 1: Online Application Submission
To begin the application process, please create an Admissions Portal account. Through the portal, you will be able to submit the online application for your child(ren), email teacher recommendation forms, and monitor the application progress. The submission of the online application is considered complete when the demographic information and parent questionnaire are completed and the $75 fee is paid.
*Note: only one portal account is needed per family. Multiple applications for sibling applicants can be submitted through one account.

Step 2: Interviews
Upon submission of the online application, a member of the Admissions team will reach out to arrange your child’s and parent/guardian interviews.

Step 3: Recommendation Forms and School Reports
Through the Admissions Portal, send a request to your child’s current teachers for both a Math and English Recommendation form. A School Recommendation form is also required. This form is unique to Friends’ Central. Through the portal you can request this from your child’s Principal or guidance counselor using their email addresses.

Official school records from your child’s school are required and should be submitted directly from your child’s current school to Friends’ Central. Please download, sign, and submit the Transcript Request form to your child’s current school. We require all grades from the previous school year and from at least one current marking period. Email submission of school reports and transcripts to admissions@friendscentral.org are preferred.

Step 4: Testing
All applicants must take either the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE FCS code: 393315) or the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT FCS code: 3298) to fulfill our standardized testing requirement. Given the far-reaching impacts of COVID-19, FCS is implementing a modified admissions process in the fall for possible entry 2021-22. We remain committed to supporting all families through this process, with a focus on equity and access. As a result, Friends' Central will not require standardized testing for the 2020-2021 admissions season. Our admissions committee will continue to focus heavily on academic transcripts, virtual interviews, teacher evaluations and narratives, student essays, extracurricular interests, and community engagement. If you have taken or plan to take the ISEE or SSAT, you may submit these scores optionally

If your child is receiving accommodations, please contact Director of Enrollment Management Margaret Metz at mmetz@friendscentral.org. You may also opt to have your child’s IQ assessed by a licensed psychologist who is certified to administer the WISC V test. Please ask the psychologist to email the results directly to admissions@friendscentral.org.

Step 5: Tuition Assistance (optional)
If you are considering applying for Tuition Assistance, please create an account through School and Student Services. Here, you will be asked to complete a Parents' Financial Statement and upload your 2019 tax forms (including all filed schedules). Tuition Assistance applications must be complete by December 15, 2020 to be eligible to receive a grant for an early admission notification on January 15, 2021.
