Running in the Friends’ League means running against some of the fastest high-schoolers around, and Friends’ Central is in the race towards the top. The Phoenix are under the direction of head coach Karl Paranya, who knows what it takes to run at a high level. Although Karl will share that his running resume makes him more accomplished in the middle distances on the track, his record for cross country while at Haverford College is pretty impressive, including being a 3-time NCAA Division III All-American in Cross Country and having finished in 2nd place in NCAA Division III Cross Country in the Fall of 1996, which was his best finish in national competition and the fastest time (24:11 for 4.97 miles) to date by a Haverford runner.
