Under the direction of 11th-year head coach Brandon Shell, who first came to FCS as an assistant track coach in 2008 and assumed control of the program two years later, and lead assistant Venetia Ricketts, the Phoenix girls have been among the best in the state. The girls’ outdoor track & field team has dominated the Friends’ Schools League lately, winning the league championship in four consecutive seasons (2016-19). They’ve also finished in the top three in PAISAA each of the last three years –– winning it all in 2018. A pair of 2018 alumnae, Gabrielle Wilkerson (Florida) and Ava Forman (Wash. U of St. Louis), have already made a splash on the college scene; Wilkerson was USTFCCCA Outdoor Second Team All-American in the 800m, and Forman earned All-UAA honors for outdoor track.
