What's New in the City Avenue Food Program?

Our new dining services partner, Flik, will continue to expand our commitment to sustainability, reduction of our carbon footprint, local sourcing, and organic produce in the upcoming school year. 

  • 3-Star Certified Green Restaurant®
  • 100% reusable china (including take-out) and flatware
  • Elimination of plastic beverage bottles and straws
  • Composting on School property


  • A variety of locally sourced milk (hormone- and antibiotic-free), low-fat chocolate, skim, 2% 
  • 100% fruit juices (no sugar added) and naturally flavored still and sparkling water
  • Featuring “Waterworks,” a delicious and innovative assortment of fresh fruit and vegetable-infused waters – a healthy alternative to traditional fountain beverages; daily rotating selections include apple ginger, citrus cranberry, strawberry lime, and cucumber mint


  • A selection of premium meats, including house roasted turkey & roast beef, all-natural grilled chicken breast, all-white meat chicken salad, albacore tuna salad
  • 4 daily assorted cheeses, grilled vegetables, hummus, sun-butter and jelly
  • fresh whole grain breads, and rolls.
  • Accompaniments and spreads - mayonnaise, low-fat mayonnaise, mustards, house-made spreads, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and carrot sticks
  • A hot and cold “grab n’ go” menu featuring a daily and weekly rotation of Paninis, hoagies, and toasted sandwiches.

Salad Bar

  • Fresh assortment of organic and local greens
  • Wide variety of fresh and local vegetables of the season, simply prepared - roasted, grilled and steamed to maximize flavor and nutrition
  • House-cooked legumes
  • Grains from around the world (including bulgur, quinoa, wheat berries, farro)
  • Daily specialty composed salads
  • Fresh-cut fruit
  • Organic yogurt
  • House-made granola served along
  • Variety of house-made dressings, fresh-baked croutons & pita


  • Prepared in-house from scratch using low-sodium and gluten-free broths and bases
  • Daily rotating soups (2 daily) such as classic tomato soup, chicken noodle, clam chowder, bean soups, and a daily vegetarian option
  • Chili and hearty stews during the winter months


  • Rotating in-house prepared favorites
  • 1 daily protein and 1 vegetarian option
  • 2 daily sides, including fresh vegetables and grain 
  • All entrées to be prepared from scratch utilizing olive and canola oils 
  • Free of artificial trans-fats, colors, or preservatives
  • All entrée dishes will have an allergen friendly version or vegan version available

Rotating Pasta, Grain, and Hearth

  • Daily whole wheat and legume and grain-based pastas
  • 2 daily house-made sauces, proteins, and/or vegetables

  • Hearth-baked breads, including whole wheat Strombolis, pizzas, and flatbreads

  • Designed to introduce new foods and innovation
  • Food tastings of unique and locally produced foods, wellness, and nutrition education
  • A vehicle to introduce students to the new foods and ever-changing culinary scene

A selection of fresh seasonal, local and/or organic hand fruit. Snack are consistent with general wellness guidelines to rotate daily . Featured examples include:

  • String Cheese/Organic Cheese

  • Organic Baby Carrots
