Music and Voice Lessons (Individual)

Friends' Central offers opportunities for individual private instruction by experienced local professional musicians. Piano lessons are available to students beginning in grade 1. Violin, viola, and cello are options beginning in grade 2. Saxophone and clarinet are offered beginning in grade 3. Flute, trumpet, guitar, percussion instruments, and voice are available starting in grade 6. All instruments may be continued through grade 12. Individual lessons provide one-on-one instruction to encourage both technical and artistic growth. Lessons take place before, during, or after the school day at FCS at the mutual convenience of teacher and student. Twenty-six half-hour lessons will be scheduled weekly throughout the school year.

Lower School Rainbow String Ensemble

Friends' Central offers opportunities for string instrument students in grades 2-5 who have had one year or more of private lessons in or out of school to join the Rainbow String Ensemble (other orchestral instruments may be admitted on a case by case basis). Students must continue their private lessons while in this ensemble. The Rainbow Ensemble rehearses after school each Wednesday from 3:00-3:45 pm from October through May and performs several times during the school year.
