Music Programs
At Friends’ Central, we believe that music education is a powerful way for students to grow both creatively and personally. Through our private lesson program and ensemble opportunities, young musicians are guided by accomplished local professionals who nurture technical skill, artistic expression, and a lifelong love of music. Whether students are just beginning their journey with individual instruction or expanding their experience through group performance, our program offers a supportive environment that encourages confidence, discipline, and joy in making music. These programs are offered for an additional fee.

Music and Voice Lessons (Individual)
Friends' Central offers opportunities for individual private instruction by experienced local professional musicians. See below for available instruments by grade level. Case-by-case exceptions may be made for students with prior instrumental experience. All instruments may be continued through grade 12.
Individual lessons provide one-on-one instruction to encourage both technical and artistic growth. Lessons take place before, during, or after the school day at FCS at the mutual convenience of teacher and student. Twenty-six half-hour lessons will be scheduled weekly throughout the school year. Lessons are a year-long commitment and families should consider overall scheduling before signing up.

Lower School Rainbow String Ensemble
Friends' Central offers opportunities for string and flute instrument students in grades 2-5 who have had one year or more of private lessons in or out of school to join the Rainbow String Ensemble (other orchestral instruments may be admitted on a case by case basis). Students must continue their private lessons while in this ensemble. The Rainbow Ensemble rehearses after school each Wednesday from 3:00-3:45 pm from October through May and performs at the Winter and Spring concerts.
