Dear Alumni/ae,

Friends' Central is alive with activities of all kinds as we approach the holiday break. The energy is palpable, flowing out of classrooms into the hallways and throughout the buildings. We have had a very busy fall with alumni/ae activity on and off campus.

I hope to see many of you at Pig Beach in Brooklyn on Thursday, December 7. We are very excited to have Laurie Novo, Terry Guerin, and Deb Maraziti accompanying us. If you are in town please feel free to join in!

I hope the holiday season is filled with all of the things that bring you joy and that matter most. May the spirit of the holiday season last throughout the new year for your family. Best wishes for a healthy and peaceful New Year.

Sincerely,

Linda Waxman Wasserman '75

Alumni/ae Reunite with Soccer Game

"To catch up with old classmates and watch '04 grads make connections and share stories with grads from 2017 was so rewarding. Plus we got to run off a little Thanksgiving turkey." - Galen Guindon '06

Over Thanksgiving weekend, a group of alumni who played soccer at Friends' Central returned to campus for a mini-reunion and soccer game. The game itself ended in a tie 5-5 and participating alums had a great time connecting with old and new friends.

Friends' Central Fund

Thanks to the generosity of parents, alumni/ae, and friends we exceeded our goal of raising 120 gifts in honor of our 120 teachers on Giving Tuesday! Gifts came from as far as France and Ireland, and from members of the Class of 2017 all the way to Class of 1953. The day reminded our community how much we value our faculty who are central to the FCS experience.

If you missed Giving Tuesday, there is still time for year-end gifts to the Friends' Central Fund! You can make a gift at friendscentral.org/giving or through Venmo or contact the Development Office at 610-645-4499 to make a gift of securities. Many thanks for your generosity!

Andrea Deutsch '85 Elected Mayor of Narberth

Last month, alumna Andrea Deustch '85 was elected the Mayor of Narberth, PA. Andrea will be the first woman and the first Jewish mayor in the borough's 122-year history. Previously, she served as a member of Borough Council and spent more than 10 years of her career as a litigator before opening her business, Spots: The Place for Paws, 14 years ago. Read more on Andrea's mayoral race here.

School Takes Big Step in Sustainability

Friends' Central is excited to announce the launch of an energy-saving project, expected to dramatically reduce the School's carbon footprint. Projected to save 38% of energy used annually equal to 9,100 million BTUs, these savings are the equivalent of eliminating the carbon emissions of 3,000,000 miles driven by passenger cars or the carbon absorption of 30,000 trees for 10 years. Read more about the initiative here.

Shallcross Project

Shallcross Reimagined, a long-overdue updating of the dining hall and art gallery, is well underway. And you can help! Friends' Central was awarded a $50,000 challenge grant from The Edward E. Ford Foundation, for Shallcross, specifically the inclusion of a Teaching Kitchen within the total renovation of the Dining Hall. Read more here. Help meet the challenge by making a gift here before December 31!
