Dear Alumni/ae,

This time of year, the air on our campuses buzzes with energy and bittersweet anticipation as students prepare to graduate, advance in grade or division, and turn to the next chapter in their lives. As I write to you, the 2017-2018 school year is coming to a close, and we are getting ready to celebrate with the Class of 2018 as they graduate this Saturday and welcome them into the FCS Alumni/ae Association.

Last month, we were thrilled to welcome over 200 alumni/ae and their families back to campus in honor of their 5th to 75th Reunion. Check out photos from Reunion 2018 here!

With summertime in Philadelphia right on the horizon, it's now time for some fun and sun! I hope you get a chance for rest and relaxation with family and friends over the next few months. This is our final newsletter of the year, and we'll return in September with more monthly news and event updates.

Best wishes,

Phoenix Jersey is Retired for Amile Jefferson '12

"To be back here right now, sitting in this seat that we had Meeting for Worship in every Wednesday, it's truly amazing."

- Amile Jefferson '12

On Thursday, May 10, family, friends, teachers, coaches, and students gathered to honor Amile Jefferson '12 with the retirement of his No. 25 Friends' Central Phoenix jersey. Currently signed to an NBA contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves and formerly a three-time captain and four-time member of the All-ACC Academic Team at Duke University, Amile was recognized for his achievements both on and off the court. At the ceremony, he spoke to students about his experience and appreciation for the community at Friends' Central and the love of learning that was fostered in him: "There's beauty in the struggle… and learning, and failing— failing a test, and so many things that you're going to go through in life, and we're all going to go through… life is beautiful, and we are forever learning." Read more here or view video from the ceremony here.
