This fall, Friends’ Central Middle School Latin teacher Margaret Somerville presented at the eighth annual Parliament of the World’s Religions. Hosted for the first time virtually, this international event was described on its website as, “a safe way to gather the world’s global interfaith movement and celebrate the enduring spirit and work of religious and spiritual communities striving toward a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world.”

After a great freshman year, then a red-hot start to her sophomore campaign cut short by injury and a junior basketball season limited by COVID, Friends’ Central senior forward and captain Madison Smith is eagerly looking to make her mark this winter in the 2021-22 basketball season. “I knew my senior year would have to be a big one,” said Smith. “Missing 11 games in my sophomore year and only having five games my junior year due to the pandemic, once I got our schedule for this season, I knew this would have to be a big year.”
This September, Jai Smith ‘22 participated in the On the Hill Legislative Summit 2021 in Washington, D.C. hosted by the Jack and Jill organization. At the conference, Jai and a group of other students had the opportunity to speak virtually to Pennsylvania State Representatives.
