On Monday, May 10, Friends' Central Softball team jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after two innings and cruised to the 7-1 win over visiting George School, securing the spot Friends' Central wanted as they close in on the FSL playoffs. Highlighting the victory was freshman pitcher Kasey Xenidis, who became the first pitcher since Carolyn Spellacy to record 100 strikeouts in a season. Xenidis reached the milestone in the bottom of the fifth against George School when she struck out the first batter in the inning. Xenidis finished the game with 13 strikeouts. As of today, Kasey has 115 strikeouts and 3 home runs in her first season with the Phoenix. Offensively, the Phoenix have been paced by Xenidis and Maria Morsa, who currently has a .611 batting average, .708 on base percentage, three doubles, three triples, and one home run also in her first season with the Phoenix.
