Friends’ Central’s Head of School Beth D. Johnson ’77 was invited to participate as a panelist at the University of Penn GSE School Leadership Program’s culminating master’s session in July.
Beth shared her expertise as part of the program titled People of Color in Leadership Building an Equity Mindset, facilitated by Jessica Richard, Associate Director of the School Leadership Program at the University of Pennsylvania.
The dialogue, which followed the presentation, focused on the panelists’ experiences as BIPOC educational leaders while addressing inequities and the need for racial literacy.
Beth was joined on the panel by Raquel M. Arredondo, Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education; Katie Pak, Director of Special Projects for the School District of Philadelphia; Richard Gordon, Principal of Paul Robeson High School for Human Services in Philadelphia; and Charles Adams, founder and Managing Partner of Lion's Story. Jessica Richard was the panel moderator.
Beth expressed that she was glad to have taken part. “It was a pleasure sharing advice and my experience with current and future educational leaders," she said.
